Consistent with its mission statement, the Freeport Area Historical Society (a non profit organization) purchased the Valley Mills and adjacent property in 1998. The purpose is to rehabilitate the building into a working (operational but not producing) mill similar to how it would have appeared in the mid 20th century. Thus saving this historic site from deterioration and eventually being lost. Once completed, the restored mill will serve as a museum and learning center that would benefit not only the younger generation of the area, but the older residents as well.

Hours of Operation

The mill can be toured by appointment or during one of the Open Houses on the fourth Saturday of summer months.
